![]() Those unfamiliar with the series are probably wondering why I thought this post needed to be written so far in advance of the film’s opening. With the movie/television franchise fifteen months out, I wanted to write an expansive post detailing just how to jump into the series in time to see it all play out on the big screen. He plans to rule in the darkness and chaos that follows. ![]() The Crimson King wants to destroy the Tower, effectively killing all life and the known world. See, in the series, the Dark Tower is the linchpin of existence. Most of these villainous forces serve the will of the Crimson King, an ancient evil monster who seeks to topple the Dark Tower. Opposing the ka-tet and their quest is a variety of gruesome creatures like the Slow Mutants, demons, the Taheen, vampires, the Wolves of Thunderclap, low-men, and the sorcerer Randall Flagg. ![]() The Dark Tower is set in a fictional fantasy world akin to a postapocalyptic setting–it is often said throughout the series that “the world had moved on.” This place is called All-World, and is comprised of In-World, Mid-World, and End-World.
